Dr. David Torkko, D.C.
Entering my 31st year in practice I am just as passionate about helping change lives as I was in 1986, my first year in practice. I believe it's important for patients to know a little about their healthcare provider since we do create relationships. Whether it's with your dentist, medical doctor, hairstylist, or plumber, we all work better with those we know and trust. I knew from a very early age that I would be a doctor. My uncle graduated from the University of Washington Dental School as an oral surgeon and served our country in Vietnam in a mass unit. That made a big impression on a young mind. I grew up very active in athletics both in high school and college. I graduated from R.A. Long High School in Longview WA and attended Eastern Washington University where I was a sprinter on the Varsity Track team. At Eastern Washington University I studied chemistry and biology and my premed studies. In 1982 I was accepted at Western States Chiropractic College and attended my post graduate training from 1982 to 1986. It was in Chiropractic College I got into body building and won Mr. Oregon in the middle weight division in 1985.
I began private practice in 1986 in St. Helens Oregon where I focused on degenerative back disease, disc injuries, and learned the ropes on treating the most difficult back problems. My expertise continued when owning Portland Rehab and sports medicine in the late 80's and into the 90's.
I have lived in the Tigard/Metzger community since 1989 and I attend Solid Rock Church in Beaverton. My faith continues to guide and direct my life and passion to serve people.
At 57 years young I enjoy staying fit at 24hour Fitness center, skiing and motorcycling. My family and I enjoy the great outdoors and hiking.
I am intimately familiar with what it takes to recover from a chronic degenerative back condition and truly empathize with my patients who suffer. I myself from years of sports and fitness caused two discs to degenerate. In 2000, I had such sever back pain that I could not work fulltime as a chiropractor for 2 years. Through my own health and healing journey I am now pain free and functioning at a very high level. It was a grueling journey but I am thankful that chiropractic works and I am a living testimony to its power.
My team and I look forward to helping you find the source of your pain and physical limits and showing you how to gain your freedom again. There is hope and the answer s and solutions are there. I encourage you to take the first step, call us and see how you can regain your health, happiness, and function again.
I have benefited tremendously from the chiropractic care I received from Dr. Torkko.
